Project Description

A collaborative project will be done with contacts at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Professor Soundararajan Ezekiel and his students). The project will expand an ongoing study at Lafayette College, which had preliminary findings presented at KinberCon October 2025. Poster title was “Bacteriophage Classification using a Convolutional Neural Network Model”. The collaboration will involve students at Lafayette and Indiana University of Pennsylvania coding by ML/AI to clarify and create new artificial images of bacteriophages for better training and improvement of the model. The project will take place in fall with outcomes reported by poster presentations at the next Kinbercon. The PA Science DMZ network will provide the cyberinfrastructure necessary for running the codes and integrating the large datasets used for the project.
